Bodegas Monje

Few wineries in the Canary Islands could tell so much about wines from such an extraordinary panoramic view of Tenerife´s volcano Teide and the north coast of Tenerife Few bodegas, or perhaps only Bodegas Monje, could afford to present the landscape that makes their unique wines so close.

At an altitude of 600 meters above sea level on volcanic and stony soil, are located the vineyards of Bodegas Monje in the La Hollera area in El Sauzal (municipality in the north of Tenerife). Here are cultivated the grape varieties Listán blanco, Listán Negro, Negramoll, Tintilla, Vijariego Negro and Marmajuelo.

Felipe Monje belongs to the fifth generation of winemakers in his family, whose passion for wine dates back to 1750. The current winery was built in 1956 and renovated in 1983, gradually integrating other cultural concepts, remaining winemaking the central issue.
